Character Info:
Name: Willard Huntington Wright
Age: It's not said but around 25
Canon: Umineko no naku koro ni Chiru
Pull Point: After he entered the game but before the game is over.
Background Info:
History: Will used to be a first-class archbishop and Chief Inquisitor of SSVD. He is feared by witches for his fame of being cold and ruthless and because of this he gained the nicknames “Wright of the Twenty Wedges” and “Wizard-Hunting Wright.” He quit after he became unhappy with the brutality of the SSVD, and now he lives with his pet cat Diana.
He was invited by Bernkastel to investigate the murder of Beatrice. He was forced to participate and therefore he acts as a detective due to the lack of one in the 7th game on Rokkenjima. There he met Lion and he has grown close to Lion.

Personality: Will is direct and to the point, he doesn’t care for keeping anyone happy, he is blunt and sometimes kind of rude. He has neither time for formalities nor cares for them. He is very private about his life but after he stopped being an Inquisitor he calmed down. His days filled with work and life-risking activities are behind him and he found himself inn his new life a little bored. He was invited to a game with witches and he basically was forced to participate, to his dismay.
He always follows the rules, he believes and enforces them and everything in his life surrounds the rules of Van Dine. He is serious about his job or whatever he needs to do, he performs every task with the utmost perfection. He has a bad habit about scolding others while shouting which is often humiliating for the person being scolded. That resulted in him being hated by the Inquisitors. He doesn’t care for people to like him or not so he just ignored the complaints.
He is known for being ruthless as well, he is very strong and forceful, but he defends people that cannot protect themselves. He is very rational about judging witches and destroying their games but not without protecting the sinless truths of the innocent. He hates people that take advantage of their rank and provoke others using the information they hold against them, he likes to call these individuals “Intellectual-Rapists”. He wants to use his mind without forgetting the heart of others.
Sadly this doesn’t apply to him, he is cold and reckless, he doesn’t show many expressions beside rage and concern, he is the kind of guy that doesn’t know how to relax after being held up in so much work. And he is often misunderstood thanks to his fearful appearance but in reality he is just a nice guy overall.
He has troubles making new friends, he doesn’t care to make an effort either, Will is the kind of guy that will always protect others, even at cost to his life, also if he ever promises something he will keep it. He wants a good and happy ending for everyone, doesn’t matter the cost for him.
Game Specific:
Arcana: The Judgement
Justification: Judgment is associated with the words rebirth, inner calling, absolution, forgiveness, end of repression, reconciliation, accepting past mistakes, renewal, decision, salvation, new beginning, hope and redemption.
As for how they apply to Will well, Will understands that his brutal actions that he performed while he was on duty can’t be forgiven but he has resigned to seek for a new beginning, he is hopeful for a good ending for everyone and he is repressed no more as he stopped working as a chief for the SSVD. He wants a new life and now having learned from his mistakes, he is finally ready to try.
Samples:
First Person Sample: [In a big auditorium, there was a guy in a blue coat, he was in front of what appeared it was a reunion of Iron Maidens, all wore the same uniform and they were paying attention to man in front of them.]
Van Dine rule #9, there must be one protagonist of deduction.
[He said with a strong voice, toward the audience staring]
If you want to play detective, remember the 6th Rule as well! There must always be a detective, and it’s not a detective unless he detects, gather clues, presses witnesses, checks alibis. Remember we are Heresy Inquisitors, our job is to finish wicked witches!
[As he glanced the greed for truth and witches blood in their eyes, he stood disgusted at the new recruits he had to teach, the new groups just got worse.]
We have no right, not even by God, to disclose the sinless truths of those who by the rules are innocent. Anyone that presents such an easy answer has no right to be standing in front of me. Never trample on others' sinless truths...never forget the heart!
[When he said that, most watched him confused. He couldn’t believe it, all of the Inquisitors had let their hearts fade in the line of duty and not even he was free from that sin, but he never forgot the heart of others, just because he let his fade doesn’t mean the others have to fade as well.]
All of…you…try to not forget the heart, don’t be intellectual-rapists.
[He said as he ventured to his chambers before the lesson was over. He was stopped by guards. He clenched his fists and screamed at them.]
I quit!
Third Person Sample:
This place was outside of time itself, how was he so careless to fall into that witch’s trap? Usually he could sniff the witches wicked plans from miles away. The young former Inquisitor asked himself as he stared at the rain outside the window. He pressed his clenched fist to the glass hoping to clear this mystery. He closed his eyes in anger and gritted his teeth.
“I promised…”
He said in a whisper. He placed his head on the cold glass as well to cool that burning sensation of anger. He was the kind of guy that everyone could rely on, but he wasn’t sure if he could. Those brown eyes hunted him whenever he closed his golden eyes. Why did he promise such a thing? Such a foolish promise, but he did. The inquisitor opened his eyes once more and saw his own reflection on the window, he was still the same guy, he was the same Will that would never break a promise. He smiled bitterly as he was stupid enough to forget that. He said with a soft voice:
“I’ll find that happy ending...”
